Day 6 I am a sucker for all kinds of journals. I have been asked to review Rejuvenating Refuge: Uplifting Journal for Caring Warriors by Courtney Long (Self-Care Specialist, Caring for Your Spirt). Here's a taste: Today I feel... (Circle one or more) Sad Angry Frustrated Disappointed Hurt Lonely Happy Calm Upset Hopeful Guilty Overwhelmed Anxious/Worried Indifferent Fulfilled Excited Proud Nervous Suspicious Depressed Confused Exhausted Hysterical Disgusted Enraged Bored Surprised because..... Below the page of blank lines, she has an affirmation: "I give myself permission to feel whatever I feel. I allow emotions to flow through me, releasing all self-judgment and guilt, I am lovable, perfect, whole, and complete just as I am." Here's my list... Happy, Overwhelmed, Hopeful, Worried, Excited, Proud, Nervous Some of these seem like opposites, don't they? |

Day 5 Something fantastic happened yesterday. If you have been following my blog, you know that Kyle has been in a rough cycle. These cycles tend to take over suddenly, often with the onset of the full moon, and then after 1 1/2- 2 weeks, end suddenly as well. It’s as if something takes Kyle and replaces him with another person. I am not exaggerating here and those who know Kyle, are always astounded at the dramatic shift. Yesterday started our very rough for Kyle as well as myself. It was looking to me as if this cycle could go on for another week, as there was little improvement after the first week. He didn’t seem to have reached the peak, or most intense part, just yet. JoAn, an angel who as cleaned our home for about 20 years, was here for her usual Tuesday clean up after the Nobel’s. She has become a member of our family and knows Kyle well. She is a pray-er so I told her Kyle needed her prayer right now. She went right in to him. Holding his hand, she prayed with him, for him. I let them have their private moment and used that opportunity to take a short break. Afterwards, he sat quietly and JoAn went back to cleaning. One hour later, Kyle sauntered out of his room completely recovered. He was not just a little better, he was ALL better!! “His face looks different, is he ok now?” JoAn asked. Yes, Kyle had returned to us with his voracious appetite and beautiful smile. He was most certainly back and ok. Coincidence? Prayer answered? I have decided this is not something for me to question. Just thinking about the way this played out, timing and all, gives me goosebumps. Grateful, I am. |

Day 4 "Remember only this one thing," said Badger. "The stories people tell have a way of taking care of them. If stories come to you, care for them. And learn to give them away where they are needed. Sometimes a person needs a story more than food to stay alive. That is why we put these stories in each other's memory. This is how people care for themselves."
~ Crow and Weasel, by Barry Lopez Received this in an email this morning, and though I have gotten it many times before, I heard it differently today. Then later, something really special happened in my house. I will share tomorrow. There once was a woman who woke up one morning, looked in the mirror,
and noticed she had only three hairs on her head. 'Well,' she said, 'I think I'll braid my hair today.' So she did and she had a wonderful day. The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and saw that she had only two hairs on her head. 'H-M-M,' she said, 'I think I'll part my hair down the middle today.' So she did and she had a grand day. The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and noticed that she had only one hair on her head. 'Well,' she said, 'today I'm going to wear my hair in a pony tail.' So she did, and she had a fun, fun day. The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and noticed that there wasn't a single hair on her head 'YAY!' she exclaimed 'I don't have to fix my hair today!' Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.. Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass... It's about learning to dance in the rain. |
